Another ST:TNG Film?

Recently, SyFy Portal reported that LeVar Burton, who played Geordi LaForge on ST:TNG, said that if JJ Abrams' new Star Trek film does well, it could open the door to one last Next Generation movie. (http://www.syfyportal.com/news425153.html) While I loved ST:TNG, this makes little sense to me. This film is supposed to reboot the franchise by focusing on the original characters. If it does well, why would Paramount green light another Next Generation movie rather than one focusing on this crew? Would anyone even be interested in seeing another Next Generation movie? What do you think?

It would be nice to hope more Trek Movies could be on the way if the new Star Trek film does well. I am a major fan of the Next Generation and feel sad that there was only one really successful film (Star Trek First Contact) with Nemesis playing a poor second by comparison. Dark Jedi's speculation seems appropriate that if the young Kirk generation kickstarts a revival, it will be mainly because of the sex appeal of the young cast that they've clearly angled towards. If it spawned a new series and a new Next Generation beyond that then I would be very happy, but I'd sooner see LeVar and Jonathan Frakes collaborate with Ira Steven Behr and Rick Berman to come up with a new angle for a series than on a reduxed Next Gen film. In particular, after the demise of Data and replaced with B-4, it remains difficult for me to be sold on the idea, particularly now that Worf is Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire.... so its less plausible to hijack him from Deep Space Nine now!

As much as I love TNG, and would love to see it comeback, I think Levar Burton's claim is absurd. TOS had the best developed characters of all the series. They want to bring that back, with younger, hotter actors.

I'm a Big fan of the Next Gen and would like to see a another film featuring the cast possibly a proper goodbye or something to end the Next Gen Films?
