Sci Fi Wire

ABC Adds Hours To Lost

ABC has added more hours to the final two seasons of its SF drama Lost, whose current season was cut short by the writers' strike, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Andromeda Beefed Up

Andre Braugher, who plays the nefarious Gen. George Mancheck in A&E's upcoming SF miniseries The Andromeda Strain, told SCI FI Wire that the show goes well beyond the original Michael Crichton book and 1971 movie version.

Adamson Won't Helm More Narnia

Andrew Adamson, director and co-writer of the upcoming sequel The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, told SCI FI Wire that the movie will be the last Narnia installment he directs. (The next is called The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and, like the previous installments, it is based on C.S. Lewis' series of books.)

McTeigue To Helm Revelation

V for Vendetta helmer James McTeigue is attached to direct the SF thriller Revelation for Inferno, Variety reported.

Moonlight's Dohring Looks Ahead

Jason Dohring, who plays the 400-year-old vampire Josef in CBS' vampire drama Moonlight, told SCI FI Wire that the first-season finale will end with a cliffhanger.

Best new books I should be reading?

I'm sure the "best books ever" thread is coming at some point, but I'm more concerned with recent (let's say past 2 years) books. I filled out the Locus poll, and hardly recognized any of them. So,... Continue

... Um that's a superpower, I guess...

Teeth. It's about a girl with teeth... guess where? It's a bout a girl and bad men bad choices and a bobbet or two I suppose it's science fiction. There is a constant background of being in the back yard of a nuclear power plant, and the beginning credits certainly hint at a biological rather than supernatural origin. But really, for us guys (even us nice, gentlemanly fellows) it's definitely a horror movie. I wonder how women feel about it? As a super power, I'll just say that while it cert… Continue

Nikon Superhero

Many of us want to change the world, and hopefully the majority wants to change the world for the better. Sometimes, though we put ourselves into an essentially passive position. Witness the news photographer. Here is a person who for the most part can only record the events, not change them. ...at least til Speed Grapher. This anime is about one such reporter who like many noirish heroes is on the ragged edge of burn out, that is until given an amazing power. After a kiss from a "goddess" (ac… Continue

I wish I might, I wish for might

The sub genre of superhero films have at their heart that secret desire we all have for power. Who wouldn't want to be superman, or to swing through the city like spiderman? Even plain ol' human bruce wayne has that wonderful super power of money, and more money. Ben 10 (the original cartoon, the new cartoon, and the movie 'Ben 10: Race against time') certainly has to be one of the kings of what every boy dreams of. Our hero Ben accidently gets an alien device latched to his wrist. Now with a m… Continue

MY NETWORKS AND THEIR FUNCTIONAL MEMES

I love the idea of memes. They are so multifaceted. And they can be polished. To spread them requires networking. To infect my friends with my memes, I have been pushing the envelope, innoculating forums and comments with invites. I have spread invites among some friends, infected messages to others. Now I plan to heal my spirit. I will use a blog or text box in some networks to capture all the memes I wish to spread about. From this isolated point, you can visit, consider, link to the correct s… Continue
